Corinne Vigreux is co-founder of TomTom, a location technology specialist on a mission to create the most innovative technologies to help shape tomorrow’s mobility and create a safe, connected, autonomous world free of congestion and emissions.

 

Voted one of the top 50 most inspirational women in European tech, Corinne champions women in the workforce and advocates passionately for improved social mobility through education. Celeste Kidd is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, where her lab investigates learning and belief formation. The Kidd Lab is one of few in the world that combine technologically sophisticated behavioral experiments with computational models in order to broadly understand knowledge acquisition. Her lab employs a range of methods, including eye-tracking and touchscreen testing with human infants, in order to show how learners sample information from their environment and build knowledge gradually over time. Her work has been published in PNAS,Neuron, Psychological Science, Developmental Science, and elsewhere. Her lab has received funding from NSF, DARPA, Google, the Jacobs Foundation, the Human Frontiers Science Program, and the Templeton Foundation. She is a recipient of the American Psychological Science Rising Star designation, the Glushko Dissertation Prize in Cognitive Science, and the Cognitive Science Society Computational Modeling Prize in Perception/Action. Kidd was also named as one of TIME Magazines 2017 Persons of the Year as one of the “Silence Breakers” for her advocacy for better protections for students against sexual misconduct.

Anya Kaspersen is a strategy professional, geopolitics and international security expert and practitioner. Her former positions include a career with the Norwegian Government and the UN (peacekeeping), research and academia, serving in different capacities in the private sector and for various multilateral organizations in the field and at headquarters. She joined the the World Economic Forum in 2014, spearheading the Forum’s work on geopolitics and international security and how to catalyse responses to global, regional and industry challenges.

John C. Havens is Executive Director of The IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems that has two primary outputs – the creation and iteration of a body of work known as Ethically Aligned Design: A Vision for Prioritizing Human Well-being with Autonomous and Intelligent Systems and the recommendation of ideas for Standards Projects focused on prioritizing ethical considerations in A/IS. Currently there are fifteen approved Standards Working Groups in the IEEE P7000™ series.
He is also Executive Director for The Council on Extended Intelligence (CXI) that was created to proliferate the ideals of responsible participant design, data agency and metrics of economic prosperity prioritizing people and the planet over profit and productivity. CXI is a program founded by The IEEE Standards Association and MIT whose members include representatives from the EU Parliament, the UK House of Lords, and dozens of global policy, academic, and business leaders.
Previously, John was an EVP of Social Media at PR Firm, Porter Novelli and a professional actor for over 15 years. John has written for Mashable and The Guardian and is author of the books, Heartificial Intelligence: Embracing Our Humanity To Maximize Machines and Hacking Happiness: Why Your Personal Data Counts and How Tracking it Can Change the World.

Jan Feiling is a passionate cyberneticist and AI expert with an entrepreneurial mindset. The first two and half years at Porsche he pushed innovations in the connected car department on the fast lane by intensively collaborating with start-ups and helped to reinvent Porsche to save its future in our digital world. In parallel he did his PhD in fundamental mathematical optimization and AI research.

 

He is currently working in a company building unit within Porsche Digital to address untapped business opportunities. He continues to work on the reinvention of Porsche by tackle these opportunities with a beginner mindset and act with the speed of a start-up or even faster.

Dr Loubna Bouarfa is a machine learning scientist turned entrepreneur.
She is the founder and CEO of OKRA Technologies – an artificial intelligence data analytics company for healthcare. OKRA allows healthcare professionals to combine all their data in one place and generate actionable, evidence-based insights in real time, to save and improve human lives. Loubna is currently a member of the European Union High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, where she is particularly focused on healthcare and achieving competitive business impact with AI. The internet is one of our most valuable public resources — it’s Mark Surman’s job to keep it healthy. 

Mark is Executive Director of Mozilla Foundation, the global nonprofit that does everything from making Firefox to standing up for issues like trustworthy AI. Mark is focused on fueling the broader internet health movement by working with citizens, technologists and civic leaders around the world. Mark is also part of the team that develops Mozilla’s annual Internet Health Report. 

Mark has been doing work like this for 20 years: ensuring the internet remains a global public resource, open and accessible to all. Mark was the founding Director of telecentre.org, a $26M initiative connecting community technology centers in more than 30 countries. He ran the Commons Group for 10 years, a boutique consulting firm that provided advice and insight on networks, open source and social enterprise to nonprofits and governments around the world. Mark was awarded the prestigious Shuttleworth Fellowship, where he explored how to apply open source approaches to philanthropy in the year before he joined Mozilla. 

Mark is a prominent thinker and thought leader — his analysis and opinions have been featured in The Washington Post, NPR, CNN, the BBC, Fast Company and dozens of other publications. A seasoned and charismatic speaker, Mark has delivered keynotes on five continents at major global events as diverse as Mobile World Congress, Personal Democracy Forum, TEDx Kids, World Innovation Summit on Education and the O’Reilly Open Source Summit. 

Mark serves as a trusted advisor on the board of Peer-to-Peer University. He is a past board member of the World Bank Solutions for Youth Employment Consortium, the Toronto Arts Foundation, Connected Learning Alliance, Telefonica’s Think Big, the Association for Progressive Communications, Wild Canada and rabble.ca

An expert on Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Strategic Leadership, Giulio is full professor at Pacifico Business School, Lima, Perú and part-time professor at ESADE, Barcelona, Spain. He also works for companies, academic and not-for-profit institutions, like CCL (Belgium), SDA Bocconi (Italy), Telefonica (Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala), GE (General Electric) Europe, Navozyme (Singapore), Nike and Megafon (Russia), BIC (France), Parexcelence (India) and Globis (Japan). 

Giulio started his career as a patent attorney for chemical plants in Lugano, Switzerland, deepening his interest in Innovation, now consolidated with years of teaching Design Thinking programme for AI/ Big data. He also has an MBA, and a PhD in Management from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and is involved in research projects on Machine Learning and CEO mindset with IESE Business School. He has also published in leading publications like Marketing Intelligence and  Planning, Journal of Non-Profit and Public Sector Marketing etc.

His vast experience on Big Data/AI springs from his work on location-system behavioural analysis and time perception project at Telefonica. He has also participated in the programme on AI for business at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is currently setting a start-up delivering Artificial Intelligence services.

Evert is a senior manager with a keen focus on the development of AI-enabled solutions, and a member of Deloitte’s AI Center of Excellence. He has extensive experience applying AI techniques in a variety of public and private sector domains. Evert has been active as researcher, consultant and entrepreneur in artificial intelligence, machine learning and data mining for over 25 years. He was one of the founders of the data mining practice in Cap Gemini in the 1990s and was CTO of a successful AI startup. Evert also was an assistant professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and he holds a PhD in AI from that institution.

Song Richardson is the Dean and Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law with joint appointments in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society and in the Department of Asian American Studies. She received her AB from Harvard College and her JD from Yale Law School. Her interdisciplinary research uses lessons from cognitive and social psychology to study decision-making and judgment in a variety of contexts. Her scholarship has been published by law journals at Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Duke and Northwestern, among others. Her article, “Police Efficiency and the Fourth Amendment” was selected as a “Must Read” by the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. Her co-edited book, The Constitution and the Future of Criminal Justice in America, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2013. She is a co-editor of Criminal Procedure, Cases and Materials published by West Academic Publishing. Currently, she is working on a book that examines the history of race in the U.S. and its implications for law and policy. 

Dean Richardson’s legal career has included partnership at a boutique criminal law firm and work as a state and federal public defender in Seattle, Washington. She was also an Assistant Counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. Immediately upon graduation from law school, Dean Richardson was a Skadden Arps Public Interest Fellow with the National Immigration Law Center in Los Angeles and the Legal Aid Society’s Immigration Unit in Brooklyn, NY. A leading expert on implicit racial and gender bias, Richardson is frequently invited to speak to law firms, district attorney and public defender offices, police departments, universities, judges, bar associations, and private industry across the nation about the science of implicit bias and its influence on decisions, perceptions, and judgments. She also presents her work at academic symposia and non-academic legal conferences.

She has won numerous awards and recognitions, including the American Association of Law School’s Derrick Bell Award, which recognizes a faculty member’s extraordinary contributions to legal education through mentoring, teaching, and scholarship. She was recently named one of the Top Women Lawyers in California by The Daily Journal, one of the 100 Most Influential business and opinion shapers in Orange County, and one of the two most influential Korean Americans in OC.

Dean Richardson is a member of the American Law Institute. She is also on the Executive Committee of the Association of American Law Schools, an association whose goal is to uphold and advance excellence in legal education, including promoting the core values of excellence in teaching and scholarship, academic freedom, and diversity while seeking to improve the legal profession, to foster justice, and to serve local, national and international communities.

Francesca Rossi is a professor of computer science at the University of Padova, Italy. Currently she is on sabbatical at Harvard with a Radcliffe fellowship.

Her research interests include constraint reasoning, preferences, multi-agent systems, computational social choice, and artificial intelligence.

She has been president of the international association for constraint programming (ACP) and she is now the president of IJCAI. She has been program chair of CP 2003 and of IJCAI 2013.

She is in the editorial board of Constraints, Artificial Intelligence, AMAI, and KAIS. She will be Editor in Chief of JAIR starting January 2015.

She has published over 160 articles in international journals, in proceedings of international conferences or workshops, and as book chapters. She has co-authored a book. She has edited 16 volumes, between conference proceedings, collections of contributions, and special issue of international journals. She has co-edited the Handbook of Constraint Programming (Elsevier, 2006).  Her h-index is 27. Her most cited papers have more than 560 citations. She has more than 100 co-authors.

Marcin Detyniecki is Head of Research and Group Chief Data Scientist at AXA Group. He leads innovation projects – with a strong focus on advanced analytics – in conjunction with AXA’s operational business entities while providing strong technical insights. Marcin also plays a key role in animating and leveraging the academic community as well as defining the research strategy for AXA.

 

Additionally, he is a professor at the Polish Academy of Science (IBS PAN) and associate researcher at the computer science laboratory LIP6 of Sorbonne University.

 

Currently, his research focuses on humanizing Artificial Intelligence to foster technology adoption. On Machine Learning interpretability, his work has been to propose better interpretability approaches and to provide actionable tools such as library and tutorials to bring transparency to Machine Learning models. On developing a fair and regulated Machine Learning, he has investigated the mitigation of the usage of sensitive information in ML models for bias-free predictions. This will lead to developing fairness measures useful in AXA’s operational context.

 

Marcin Detyniecki studied mathematics, physics and computer science at the University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) in Paris. In 2000 he obtained his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the same university. Between 2001 and 2014, he was a research scientist of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). He has been a researcher at the University of California at Berkeley and at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He has been visiting researcher at the University of Florence and at British Telecom Research Labs. He was a member of the research and academic council of UPMC University, member of the executive board of laboratory SMART, an elected member of the LIP6 laboratory council, and member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems (IJFUKS). Dr. Detyniecki has over 100 publications in journals and conference proceedings.
